Project Description: This proves that the back of the house can be just as beautiful as the front! At the back of this house, we created a striking, custom-covered deck that provided the homeowner with a multi-use area. The covered area extends off of the living room and provides an outdoor eating and sitting area. The uncovered area adjacent to the covered section houses a grill.
The angled roof point on the covered section mimics the symmetry of the home's roof line; and, the rounded roof underpinning offers a contrast to the roof's sharp angles, adds height, and accentuates the beautifully ornate rounded window off of the living room. We used a rich, reddish bead board pine to contrast with the red brick for the deck's underpinning.
Beneath the first-floor deck, we created a lower-level, covered patio area with rounded arches to be consistent with the arched underpinning and ceiling on the top level. The arched columns on the patio added more privacy to the ground-level windows, as well as provided further outdoor living space.
